Overview
The Honorary Consulate General of the Principality of Monaco in Vienna is Monaco's sole diplomatic representation in Austria, located on the Universitätsring in the prestigious 1st district directly facing the University of Vienna. Honorary Consul General Dr. Christian Dorda — a senior partner at the Vienna law firm Dorda Brugger Jordis (DBJ) — has held the post since March 1998, making this one of the longest-serving consular appointments in the Austrian diplomatic corps. Unusually for an honorary consulate, the Vienna office holds authentication, passport extension, and visa authority (Beglaubigungs-, Passverlängerungs- und Visabefugnis), reflecting Monaco's trust in the representation. Monaco — the sovereign city-state on the French Riviera, the world's second-smallest country (2.02 km²) and most densely populated sovereign nation — is renowned for the Monte Carlo Casino, the Monaco Grand Prix Formula 1 circuit, its yacht-filled harbour, and a tax regime that attracts high-net-worth individuals from across the globe. An Honorary Vice-Consul, Dr. Herbert Hild, supports the consulate's work.
Service Area
The honorary consulate general covers the entire Republic of Austria.
