Overview

Dornbirn is the largest city in Vorarlberg with around 50,000 inhabitants, set between Lake Constance and the Bregenzerwald in the Rhine valley. The town's textile-industry roots are visible in the restored 19th-century Rotes Haus and the modern Inatura natural-history museum, while the Karren cable car climbs to a panoramic plateau above the city and the dramatic Rappenlochschlucht gorge runs nearby.
